Whether setting up a production system, or a temporary environment or cluster for training, development, integration or disaster recovery testing purposes, it is always better to have the installation supervised by a skilled Code Development consultant, who will make sure that all parts of the system are configured and set up according to exact manufacturer specifications, and that best Maximo practices are followed throughout the process (e.g. naming conventions, standard configuration options, and initial data values can make all the difference in future contact with support or third-party consultants).
Another vital step in this process is the initial burn-in test of the new system, during which an experienced consultant goes through a series of checklists and spots any potential issues or malfunctions early. This avoids the risk of late and costly repair work while the system is live and populated with production data.
After each installation of a client environment, our consultants will create a snapshot of the initial system configuration using MaxCC, our in-house database configuration utility. This snapshot will be archived in our Configuration Library for audit and backup purposes, and used to easily locate subsequent undocumented configuration changes, or roll back to the initial position at any time in the future.
